My name is Erik Wesner. Since 2004, I have visited 20 Amish communities in five states, and have met roughly 5,000 Amish families in total.
As the 2008 Snowden Fellow at the Young Center at Elizabethtown College, I delivered a lecture entitled “Is Success a Four-Letter Word? The Amish Approach to Business Achievement”.
I have consulted on Amish-themed articles for The Wall Street Journal, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, and have been featured in The Lancaster Sunday News. I have also served as a consultant for numerous authors of Amish fiction and non-fiction.
At present, my main project is a book on Amish business wisdom, to be published by Jossey-Bass, a division of Wiley, in Spring 2010. It's based on 55+ interviews I have conducted with Amish business owners. I am also writing a second, general-information book on the Amish to be published in Poland in 2009.
In my previous nine-year career with a Nashville publisher and bookseller, I worked in management and set an international record as a salesperson.
If not in Amish America, you can likely find me in Krakow, Poland, where I teach, translate, and train for marathons.
